The WOMAN Trial was Highly Commended in the Times Higher Education annual awards for Research Project of the Year.
Winners of these high-profile UK prizes were announced at a special gala evening in London on Thursday 30 November.
Just pipped to the title of Research Project of the Year: STEM by Heriot-Watt University on behalf of the Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium (ESRIC), the fact the WOMAN trial was Highly Commended was a testament to everyone involved in such a major collaboration.
WOMAN Trial Project Director Haleema Shakur said: “On behalf of everyone in the WOMAN trial, we are delighted to have been Highly Commended for this award. This recognition is in honour of the 20,060 women who gave of themselves to help find better ways of treating postpartum haemorrhage.”
Professor Anne Mills, Deputy Director & Provost at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said: “Congratulations to the WOMAN trial team. This very important study was a wonderful example of a strong and skilful international collaboration working closely together to conduct research which will have a large global health impact.”
